Audit for HV site safe access

Audit for HV Site Safe Access

Background

Palisade is a specialist Australian infrastructure fund manager. It owns a growing portfolio of renewable energy assets including wind and solar farms across South Australia, Tasmania and Queensland. For each solar and wind farm, Palisade appoint an experienced asset management company to manage the operations and maintenance of the site.

Palisade appointed Thomson Bridge to develop electrical Site Safe Access Rules for all its Sites. The purpose these Rules is to outline a uniform safe system of work to control the risks associated with work on, near, or in the vicinity of, High Voltage electrical apparatus and associated control and metering subsystems for all solar and wind assets.

Our Role

To ensure consistency of operations in accordance with its High Voltage Electrical Safety Rules, Palisade appointed Thomson Bridge to develop an Audit Tool to enable a systematic review of the utilisation of these important Safety Rules.

Our High Voltage Subject Matter Experts also hold auditing qualifications and have applied this knowledge and process to a number of Site audits at wind and solar farms.

The audit process is granular and addresses areas including training and authorisation, PPE, application of locks and tags, switching instructions, permit applications and documentation pertaining to faults, callouts and protection events.

The outcome of these Audits is to confirm the knowledge and understandings of Site based staff in respect to Safe Access Rules and their importance in keeping staff, contractors and visitors safe at all times when working on or near electrical apparatus.
