Richard brings a deep practical understanding of trade and technical skills required for roles across the ESI, and the VET system that supports the development of those skills. He is a professional training manager who has spent the past 15 years working first in the Generation sector, and now in the broader Electricity Supply Industry (ESI).

 

In training management roles at Suzlon Energy and AGL, Richard developed training programs and fkills pathways for workforces in renewable and thermal generation. Since joining Thomson Bridge in 2019, he has worked across the full scope of the Electricity Supply Industry, overseeing strategic skills programs for construction, operations and maintenance in the Transmission, Distribution and Rail networks and across heavy industry in addition to the Generation Sector.

 

Richard has applied his practical understanding of ESI skills to VET policy and training product development. He was the Chair of the ESI Generation Training Package Industry Reference Committee from 2014 to 2019. He actively engages with industry, government and educators domestically and internationally.

Richard has a Master of Education (Workplace and Industrial) and is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Training and Development.
