Evo Energy – Electrical Worker Competency Framework Review

Background

Evo Energy delivers safe and reliable energy to Canberra and the region. They supply electricity to over 200,000 residential and business customers across the ACT and 146,000 gas customers in the ACT and NSW.

As part of continuous improvement Evo Energy is reviewing its existing Electrical Worker Competency Framework (EWCF). Evo Energy has engaged Thomson Bridge to undertake the review and to develop a new competency framework. This review will ensure that the competency development of Evo Energy workers (trade and non-trade) is kept relevant and up-to-date.

Our role

Thomson Bridge has performed a review of the required competencies for the following roles:

  • Cable Jointer
  • Electrical Fitter
  • Protection Technician
  • Zone Sub-Station Fitter
  • Lineworker
  • Non-Trade

Thomson Bridge has undertaken an analysis process involving the review of the existing framework, detailed consultation and interviews with management and staff, and evaluation of current vendors and available resources. Following on from the analysis, Thomson Bridge has developed modelling of new framework options and will work with the training committee, management and staff to further develop the final framework. As part of developing the framework Thomson Bridge will work with Evo Energy on defining the pathways for nationally recognised certifications, criteria for vendor selection, and the implementation strategy.
