Distribution Lineworkers

Evo Energy – Electrical Worker Competency Framework Review

Background

The Evo Energy Electricity Distribution Network supplies electricity to over 200,000 residential and business customers across the ACT and 146,000 gas customers in the ACT and NSW.

Evo Energy engaged Thomson Bridge to undertake a review of its existing Electrical Worker Competency Framework (EWCF), and to develop a new competency framework. This review ensures that the competency development of Evo Energy workers (trade and non-trade) is kept relevant and up-to-date.

Our role

Thomson Bridge has performed a review of the required competencies for the following roles:

  • Cable Jointer
  • Electrical Fitter
  • Protection Technician
  • Zone Sub-Station Fitter
  • Lineworker
  • Non-Trade

Thomson Bridge reviewed the existing framework, conducted detailed consultation and interviews with management and staff, and assessed current vendors and available training resources. Following on from the analysis, Thomson Bridge developed modelling of new framework options and collaborated with the training committee, management and staff to further develop the final framework, define pathways for nationally recognised certifications, criteria for vendor selection, and the implementation strategy.
