Origin Energy – Recognition of Prior Learning Program

Project will be completed in October 2021

Background

Origin Energy is an Australian energy producer and retailer, operating the largest power station in Australia at Eraring New South Wales.

Identifying the need for formal recognition of the competencies held by workers at the Eraring Power Station, Origin Energy engaged Thomson Bridge for the provision of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) services. This ensures that workers have formal recognition of their application of skills and knowledge within the workplace, allowing for portability of employment within the power sector.

Our role

Thomson Bridge developed a streamlined RPL process across three qualification levels as relevant to the roles performed at Eraring Power Station:

  • UEP30218 – Certificate III in ESI Operations – Generation
  • UEP40218 – Certificate IV in ESI Operations – Generation
  • UEP50218 – Diploma of ESI Operations – Generation

Through the use of custom RPL database, Thomson Bridge provided a customised evidence collection kit for each qualification level aligned with the specific requirements of Eraring. The workplace evidence collected was then uploaded and matched to elements of the chosen qualification. This provided a streamlined approach to the collection and assessment of evidence, minimising the burden on workers and Origin Energy.
