MTM - Authorised Applicant

Description

The authorised applicant course is designed to provide participants with knowledge and skills required to understand and correctly complete applications for Access Permits, as per the company or asset owners' enterprise procedures. This training package has been developed for those making application for Access Authorities on MTM high voltage or traction electrical apparatus. This training package will be mandatory for MTM staff who wish to apply for a high voltage access authority through ARMS in accordance with MTM’s HV isolation processes. Currently this training is only being offered to MTM staff.

The Authorised Applicant course will enable learners to understand and correctly complete applications for Access Permits, as per the company or asset owners' enterprise procedures. This course will provide learners with an understanding of why and when an application is required. Learners will be taught the correct procedure for making applications and how to correctly fill out the appropriate documentation.

Course aim

The Authorised applicant course is designed to assess participant’s knowledge and skills required to understand and correctly complete applications for Access Authorities, as per MTM’s procedures.

Target learner group

MTM staff requiring competency for the preparation and submitting of applications in a formal application process.

Learning activities

Delivery includes:

Trainer led classroom presentations and group discussion
Theory assessment
Onsite practical exercises and assessment
Application preparation

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course, a learner will have developed an understanding of the following:

Understand the legislative framework that governs work activities on site;
Understand and comply with relevant regulations and enterprise procedures;
Understand and identify the hazards associated with HV/Traction Plant and Apparatus;
Understand and identify relevant codes and procedures for the Distribution and Traction Network relating to Authority Application.
Understand and safely complete the application process, in compliance with the Traction Industry Electrical Safety Rules.

Assessment approach

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)
Portfolio (prepared applications (minimum 2))

Course Entry Requirements

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

have current certification in the required prerequisites.
be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
be sufficiently fit to participate.

Accreditation Status

Non-accredited.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive Certificate of Completion - MTM - Authorised Applicant
