Trainees will develop the following skills and understanding:
Understand the regulatory and procedural requirements for Switching Instructions and field operation;
Read and interpret Single Line Diagrams;
Read and interpret Switching Instructions
Understand the correct identification of plant for access, from Single Line Diagrams;
Identification of correct isolation and earthing requirements for plant for access, from Single Line Diagrams;
Principles for the structure, format and content Switching Instructions;
Process for the drafting, checking and approval of Switching Instructions;
Preparation and checking of Switching Instructions, for multiple network configurations, for single and multiple energy sources;
Understand the physical aspects of the performance of switching as per a Switching Instruction;
Understanding different Enterprise procedures, formats and practices;
Ability to draft Switching Instructions from first principles for an unfamiliar Single Line Diagram.
Four days plus a "One on One" tutorial day per Participant with the Instructor within six months of Course completion.
Equipment & PPE
Laptop with Microsoft Word and Excel recommended, for the preparation of switching instructions
Ideally, a participant will be a trained High Voltage Operator, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
After completion of the Course, Participants are required to complete a portfolio of Switching Instructions within 6 months of Course completion.
