UET20621 - Certificate II in ESI - Asset Inspection and Testing

Description

Those gaining this qualification will be able to acquire the skills and knowledge needed for a career in the Electricity Supply Industry as an Asset Inspector. The scope of this qualification covers:

  • Inspecting, testing and reporting on the status of electricity network assets, including poles, hardware, cables, overhead conductors, public lighting and electrical apparatus
  • Use of specialised asset inspection equipment and software applications

The skills and knowledge described within the units in this qualification may require a licence or permit to practice in the workplace.

Additional and/or other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing the qualification.

Packaging Rules and Requirements

For this qualification, A total of 8 units of competency comprising:

  • 6 core units listed in the training.gov (TGA) website; plus
  • 2 elective units from elective units listed in the training.gov (TGA) website of which, 1 elective unit may be selected, with appropriate contextualisation, from a qualification in this or any other endorsed Training Package, provided the selected unit contributes to the vocational outcome of the qualification.

  • UETDRAI001 Inspect and test poles at and below ground level
  • UETDRAI002 Inspect poles, hardware and electrical apparatus
  • UETDRAI005 Use asset inspection equipment
  • UETDREL002 Comply with environmental requirements
  • UETDREL006 Work safely in the vicinity of live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

  • UETDRDU002 Inspect underground electrical apparatus

Equipment & PPE

Learners are required to have the following to participate in this course:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Hard Hat, Safety Footwear, Approved Hi-Vis Clothing, Safety Glasses)
  • Heights equipment (e.g. Harness, ascender, descender, as per company procedures)
  • Stationary (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Assessment approach

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

  • Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
  • Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)
  • Portfolio (e.g. Logbook, Third Party Reports)

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

  • be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
  • be sufficiently fit to participate.

Accreditation Status

Nationally recognised training.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a qualification.
