This course provides participants with the necessary skills to provide immediate emergency response in the event of a low voltage (LV) electric shock. Learners will develop competency in the performance of rescue procedures from live Low Voltage (LV) apparatus in the work place. It specifies the mandatory requirements of rescue from a live LV panel and how they apply in your work functions. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of performing work.

This unit is appropriate for ESI employees for authorisation/approval to work on ESI Networks or as applicable.

Trainer led presentations, group discussions, practical demonstrations & exercises. The Course covers

• Electrical hazards,
• Electric shock response procedures
• Site emergency procedures,
• Low Voltage Rescue Kit

Upon completion of this course participants will be able to:

• Identify and mitigate electrical hazards;
• utilize electric shock and site emergency response procedures;
• Effectively use a fire blanket to extinguish flames;
• Effectively inspect and use the items contained in the low voltage rescue kit;

Students are required to wear PPE (shirt, trousers, boots, safety glasses, safety boots, hard hat) for performance of practical exercises.

Written theory and practical assessments.

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

• have current certification in the required prerequisites.
• be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
• be sufficiently fit to participate.

Upon successful completion, learners will receive a statement of attainment.
