Description

This course is designed to train individuals who are required to hold a current certificate for the specified work. This course has been tailored based on industry best-practice and to be in accordance with the relevant standards and legislations. The course will be delivered by an experienced industry professional, bringing a depth of knowledge and experience to the learner.

This Unit covers the Initial and Refresher requirements of safe performance of rescue procedures from a tower structure in the workplace. It specifies the requirements of rescue from a transmission powerline tower structure and how they apply in a transmission work environment. It encompasses responsibilities for health, safety and risk management processes, and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of performing work. The non accredited module called Attached Climbing for Tower Work will be included in this course.

Course aim

This course will provide participants with the skills to successfully perform rescue operations from an ESI tower following all relevant procedures, codes of practice and regulations.

Target learner group

This unit is appropriate for ESI employees for authorization/approval to work on ESI Networks All personnel required to climb towers

Learning activities

Trainer led presentation, group discussions and practical activities.

Learning outcomes

At the completion of this course participants should be competent in:

  • identifying and controlling hazards
  • checking and utilizing the necessary safety equipment
  • following procedures to access a tower, removing a victim from a tower or from contact with a live apparatus and utilizing lowering equipment
  • follow the necessary incident reporting processes

Duration

1/2 day for initial and refresher. Or can be packaged with other units to meet work place requirements.

Equipment & PPE

Learners are required to have the following to participate in this course:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (e.g. Hard Hat, Safety Footwear, Approved Hi-Vis Clothing, Safety Glasses)
  • Heights equipment (e.g. Harness, Ascender, Descender), as per company procedures
  • Stationary (e.g. Pen, Pencil, etc.)

Assessment approach

Learners will be assessed using a combination of the following methods:

  • Theory/Written Assessment (e.g. Short Answer Questions, Multiple Choice, Verbal Questioning Interview)
  • Direct Observation/Practical Assessment (e.g. Workplace, Simulated Environment, Role Play/Scenario)

To participate in this course, learners are required to:

  • have current certification in the required prerequisites.
  • be literate in spoken English and competent in reading, writing, and numeracy.
  • be sufficiently fit to participate.

Accreditation Status

Nationally recognised training.
Upon successful completion, learners will receive a statement of attainment.
