- Electrical safety and the control of hazardous energy

Experience

Joe is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, professionally registered with the Engineering Council and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology. With 22 years of experience in the electricity supply industry and having held roles in a variety of disciplines within the industry, one of Joe’s specialisms is electrical safety and the control of hazardous energy.

He is a passionate advocate of ‘good governance of electrical safety’ and has contributed to the creation and maintenance of many electrical safety programmes and safety rules for power networks companies and international renewable energy organisations alike. Joe has created and successfully implemented global safe systems of work for a leading global offshore wind farm developer and for one of the most prominent offshore wind turbine OEMs.

Joe recognises that the global Energy Transition requires vast expansion and reconfiguration of power grids coupled to the commissioning of hundreds of Giga Watts of renewable energy. He knows that there is already a significant strain on existing expertise in his field and takes any opportunity given to help the industry prepare to manage the transition to renewable energy as safely as possible.
