Brendan Ryan joins Thomson Bridge as Team Leader Renewable Energy

Brendan Ryan has 17 years in all facets of the wind industry bringing a wealth of experience to his role as Team Leader Renewable Energy at Thomson Bridge.

Electrically trained, and qualified as a wind turbine technician, Brendan has held senior positions in operations and construction as the wind energy sector has evolved in Australia.

He has represented both OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and owners of wind farms having worked with AGL, Suzlon, Vestas and Worley for Pacific Hydro in the past.

“I have watched Thomson Bridge grow from a High Voltage training organisation to a full scope consultancy and know that my hands-on and relevant current experience in the wind industry will enable me to become a purposeful educator, mentor and advisor drawing on my strong industry and commercial understanding” said Brendan.

Understanding the client’s needs will be a significant part of my goal and experience

“I understand customers’ needs in regard to wind farm operations and also the commercial pressures of construction, maintenance, grid connectivity and the market. I can put myself in our customers shoes and mindset and see where those issues and pinch points may arise and help them head them off at the pass or provide resources to be able to resolve it,” said Brendan.

“We’re delighted to have Brendan head up our Renewable Energy team as he will see where people need assistance and provide guidance” said Lisa Parkinson, Managing Director, Thomson Bridge.

“The wind sector is growing and getting more complex, so for us to service those needs we must recruit people like Brendan from industry who have a range of skills, technical competency and broader industry and commercial experience“ said Lisa.

Brendan will oversee the delivery of Thomson Bridge’s training programs specifically designed for the wind energy sector – including High Voltage operations, Global Wind Organisation Basic Safety Training and Advanced Rescue Training, Arc Flash awareness and underground cable installation best practice. He will also lead the customer interface for engineering consulting services.
